Attorney Lynn Thomas Johnson completes Zealous Advocacy course;
Now eligible for Bar Advocate program

BOSTON (Oct., 2000)—Attorney Lynn Thomas Johnson recently completed the Zealous Advocacy course sponsored by the Committee for Public Counsel Services and administered through Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Inc.

Now that Johnson has completed the course, he is eligible to participate in the Bar Advocate program, which provides private counsel to indigent criminal defendants paid by the state at a substantially reduced rate. The five-day intensive seminar provided educational training in all areas of criminal defense work. Lectures were presented by experienced criminal attorneys who set up role-playing scenarios and mock sessions based on situations commonly encountered by defense lawyers.

Topics such as presenting arguments, bail review, plea bargaining, negotiating with the district attorney’s office, sentencing alternatives, mental health issues and representing juveniles were addressed.

“The Zealous Advocacy course was an excellent intensive training program and a great opportunity for me to sharpen my trial skills, particularly in criminal law,” says Johnson.

Johnson, who has practiced law for more than 16 years, formerly served as assistant corporation counsel for the city of Boston and the Law Office of Albert E. Grady, Brockton. He is a 1983 graduate, cum laude, of Suffolk University Law School and holds an LLM in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. He received his bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude from St. Olaf College in 1980.
Johnson, who also resides in Boston, is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Greater Boston Business Council, among other community organizations.
